How it started

It started with lunch. The places near my office kept disappointing me: carb heavy, expensive and boring.

I decided to start cooking and I realised that I need easy, balanced and varied meals to actually do it and form a habit. However, most recipes online want a long list of ingredients and take too long.

I collected the recipes I actually cook and enjoy: plenty of vegetables and meat, fewer carbs. Each one went on a paper card.

Planning ahead gives the week a rhythm. You don’t have to decide every evening what to cook, or whether to cook at all. You follow the plan you made and measure how well you did!

The cards

The paper version, still in my kitchen. Blue marker for mains, green for sides. Eat good is these cards, plus a calendar, a shopping list and a record of what was actually eaten.

  4. 4Check the shopping listWhat to buy, and what’s already in the pantry.
  5. 5Log what happenedAte it, half, swapped or skipped.
